Overview

Island Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek is the most amazing combined trip that lets you experience a wonderful adventure in the Everest region. Island Peak (6,189m), also renowned as Imja Tse, is one of the most popular climbing peaks in the region, with an inspiring and extremely glaciated West Face towering from the Lhotse Glacier. Before scaling to Island Peak, you will also trek to the foot of the highest peak on Earth- Mount Everest (8848m). From the summit of Island Peak, the world’s largest ice walls and stunning views of Ama Dablam and Makalu among many other peaks will truly surprise you and are captivating in their opal quintessence.

Island Peak Climbing begins as we fly to Lukla from Kathmandu and walk along the trail passing the large settlement of Chaurikharka village as well as wooded regions and vegetated acreages. The region is brimming with alpine woods and lush verdant forests that envelope the terrain in their natural emerald canopy. We will also walk along the trail passing through the meeting point of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi Rivers to the popular Sherpa village and the center of the Khumbu region, Namche Bazaar. During the acclimatization day, we will experience a short hike to the Everest View Hotel which presents splendid sceneries of Everest, Ama Dablam, and some other mountain peaks.

Passing by the destinations and dainty settlements like Dole and Machhermo, we will witness the emergence of a series of different Gokyo Lakes in the mountains which present a cerulean treasure-like quiddity to the travelers. They possess within them the most mesmerizing effect, their waters glimmering in the snowy enclosure of the Himalayas. The lakes also have a very interesting history and lore behind their origins and are considered holy by the Hindu people. Walking to Gokyo Ri (5360m), the stunning views of mountain peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho-Oyu among many others will captivate you. Then, we will make our way to Everest Base Camp (5364m) -the foot of Mount Everest, which rewards you with awesome landscapes blanketed by confetti-like ivory snow and slated terra firma the shades of frozen dragon fire. We will also walk to Kala Pathar (5545m) for splendid sunrise views over the gigantic Himalayas. Then, we will climb to the summit of Island Peak Base Camp, walking on a twisting path beneath the southern face of the moraine from the Lhotse Glacier before reaching it.

Everest Base Camp Trek and Island Peak Climbing designed by Escape Himalaya will give you a lifetime experience of climbing up the most beautiful and adventurous summit. You will also need to learn peak climbing skills and use climbing equipment such as ice axes, crampons, harnesses, ascenders, and ropes. Excellent trekking experience with Escape Himalaya to Kala Patthar! Everything went seamlessly, and my guide ensured we were safe and comfortable at all times, even in the high altitude. Will definitely choose EH again when I am back in Nepal for more hiking! The country is so beautiful and just has so much to offer!

Amazing Manaslu Circuit with Phurba & Ram

Just back from a fantastic 2 week trek around the Manaslu Circuit including Larke Pass (5100m). The weather was perfect and the views were outstanding!!

Our guide Phurba Sherpa was excellent. Super knowledgeable and helpful at all times and always made sure we had a fantastic trip.

Our porter, Ram Badhadur Magar was also a rockstar. He was super professional and always arrived before us every day. He was also super friendly and helpful too.

Thanks to Phurba, Ram for always smiling and for a fantastic trip. Would highly recommend them to anyone interested in trekking in Nepal

    Everest base camp trek - Mar-Apr 2024

My 60 year old pals set out in hope on this adventure. In late March. We had our guide Raj Kumar and two porterd Janak and Ramesh. All three were stars. We changed our schedule - no problem. I would not have made it without Raj. I cannot thank him enough. Janak often took my back pack on steep climbs where I was struggling. This is a truly majestic and spiritual trek and I would encourage using Escape Himalaya and request this team of guide and porters if you want to give yourself the best chance of finishing and making best use of your time.
